Black Girl Curly
This is a nearly two-week-old refreshed twist out. It’s definitely much more elogated and pretty detangled. Here’s what I did last night:
- Dampened each section with water;
- Added about a nickel sized amount of Shea Moisture Curl Milk to each section; and
- Smoothed (with my hands) and then twisted the section.
Don’t love or hate the result, but it’ll definitely work fine until I have a real styling session on Wednesday (that’ll be officially two weeks since I last did my hair). All in all I’m thinking once every two weeks will be my standard amount of time between styling sessions but who knows. Have to give myself a little more time in this climate before I know exactly what my hair needs.
Hope everyone had a good wknd :)
Peace.

So I finally finished my hair!! :)
Description of pics:
- 1st - hair after rinsing the conditioner out;
- 2nd - products I used;
- 3rd - hair before and after products are applied;
- 4th - twists are almost done!;
- 5th - amount of hair lost after entire process; and
- 6th - next day hair, twists pinned up.
All in all definitely glad I did it because it was getting SUPER dry (like the driest in recent memory dry!). I’ll have to find a new deep conditioner though….and prob a new leave-in. We’ll see.
Happy Thursday all! :)
Last weeks’ ‘end of the week’ bun. Didn’t do my hair this wknd so will do it this week sometime…it’s not feeling that great so I’m ready to deep condition with the steamer finally. Happy Monday y’all! :)
Been wearing my hair in a pony the last week or so. I’m almost a month into this straight hair and definitely want to wash it but just don’t want to take the time to do it :-/ Anywho, will have to do it soon, my scalp needs it! As you can see, my hair is holding up pretty well…the length of it is still straight and only my edges and nape have texture, even after working out three times this week. But anyway, yeah…going to tackle it this weekend. Peace y’all. -BGC
Sorry the pics are a little low quality - I’ll be getting another camera soon - but at least they’re here :)
- 19 inches in the front,
- 17 inches in the back,
- About four inches from waist length
So those are my starting numbers! This is the shortest my hairs been in a long time so I’m ready to get a little length back. Six month no heat challenge - 4 inches in 6 months.
Happy growing y’all!

Had to let these ends go! Healthy ends mean more length retention and I’m looking for length over these next six months :)
Last night I did my four section cut (which I’ve talked about before on here). This is what I do when I ‘four section’ trim:
- I section my hair horizontally and vertically, resulting in four sections
- I then pull two sections at a time taut (first the bottom two, then top two) and cut across one section at a time, ensuring that they are (relatively) the same length
This results in a blunt cut and supplements my constant search and destroy sessions.
I felt fine with my cut last night, but saw my ponytail today and still wasn’t feeling satisfied. When your ends feel crunchy and like straw, that’s always a bad sign. My personal tell-tale is when I rub my hair together whether it makes a sound. If I can hear it, it needs to go! So since I didn’t like the look, feel, or sound of my ends, I cut some more off!
This time I divided my hair into two sections (made a vertical part), pulled down the sections, and cut across. My hair feels better now :) will send a pic of my ponytail tomorrow! Peace y’all!
